Bridal Makeup – Things To Do Before Your Big Day

Bridal makeup and the preparations behind it has been a topic of discussion for many years. Preparing your skin for that special day and making sure it is ready is extremely important. It is essential to make you look good in those ever-lasting photos and cared properly for your skin for the special look. All brides want luminous skin! – They want their skins to look flawless and radiant.

The First Step:

To have luminous skin, with minimum foundation, you need to start preparing your skin at least six weeks before the wedding day. You need to do this from the inside, starting with exercise and diet. Be sure to eat healthily and drink plenty of water in the months before your wedding. Yes, it really does make a difference before the bridal makeup. Water hydrates skin, flushes toxins from your body, aids in digestion and helps keep body systems moving in the right direction.

The Second Step:

To make bridal makeup the best, another point to remember is to get plenty of rest and consider a vitamin supplement. Rest and nutrition are keys to keeping your body at it’s best, and in turn, your hair, nails and skin as well. You not only want to look good, but feel good too. Vitamins will help make you feel more energized and make up for things your body may be lacking during such stressful times. Sleep is also essential to keep the body rested and reducing stress breakouts.

The Third Step:

Now is not the time to go experimenting with new skincare products or procedures. Doing so days before a wedding could result in irritation, redness and breakouts, and it will ruin your bridal makeup. Plan to have any serious skincare procedures done at least 4-8 weeks before your wedding to give skin a chance to calm down and adjust to any new products you may have chosen.

Special circumstances aside, daily care and weekly exfoliation should keep your skin fresh, deeply cleansed and clear. Cleanse your face religiously every day. A hot shower at night should be followed by a treatment oil on your body to hydrate your skin, a foot cream and, of course, a good night cream, serum and eye cream.

“I would never recommend my clients to do facial right before the wedding day. In different beauty parlours, different types of facials are available. Experimenting with facials might damage the skin. The skin should be as natural as possible so that I can make the bride glow on her big day. A new treatment called peel off is excellent for rejuvenating your skin,” says Anez Anzare, a premier makeup artist based in Kochi.

The Fourth Step:

Brow grooming should be done 3-5 days before the wedding. This will allow time for the redness to dissipate, and if needed, only a few hairs will need to be plucked. Other than that, the shaping and clean look will make the most of your features and bridal makeup. So, don’t forget this step. The same applies for lip waxing as well.

The Fifth Step:

As bridal makeup includes hair, once per week, treat your hair to a hair mask or hot olive oil, and wrap it in glad wrap. If you are using olive oil, avoid using it a week before your hair being coloured as it will affect the colour’s ability to take to the hair. Your hairdresser can style your hair, but not cover split ends and dead hair. So, it needs as much attention as your body.

The Sixth Step:

Have a regular manicure and pedicure every two weeks before the wedding, having the last one the day before. Bridal makeup is incomplete without beautiful hands and legs!

The Final Step:

The night before your wedding, wash face well, lightly exfoliate, rinse well and pat dry. Apply a drying lotion to any pimples you may have. Follow up with a lip balm, a good moisturizer and get plenty of rest.

In the morning, rinse face well with warm water and follow up with a very cold washcloth to tighten large pores and wake up your face. Follow up with your regular moisturizer. Avoid one with a high SPF as SPF products tend to have an adverse effect of flash photography. Allow it to settle in well before applying anything else. Now you are ready for your big day!
