5 Things That Could Mess Up Your Wedding Day

A wedding reception can be a delicate affair. There are many different things that could go wrong and jeopardize the whole affair. While some events may tick off without your help, there are other stuff that could happen due to an error on your part. However, nothing should ruin your wedding day!

So, what’s the worst that could happen? Well, the worst could be a tad difficult to pinpoint accurately. However, here are five things that could absolutely mess up your wedding day:

Problem 1: A Ruined Wedding Dress

You might think it is highly unlikely that you have a ruined wedding dress, especially after storing it safely under numerous locks and keys. However, there are a lot of things which could ruin your attire.

For example: It’s time to go to the hall and it’s raining cats and dogs. If you hadn’t foreseen the change in weather, you would most likely get drenched in your beautiful dress, not to mention the mess it would make of your hairdo. Besides, outdoor photography will not be possible!

Problem 2: Wilting Flowers

The hall looks lovely with all the tulips and roses and daffodils arranged perfectly. The guests arrive and there is still time to kick off before the main course is served. And what do you notice?

Those beautiful blooms are already bowing down in fatigue, turning your wedding day colour tone to brown and dull. The gardenias, lilies and tulips won’t even stay up before the first clinks of the glasses. And imagine how drab the photos would look with wilting flowers bringing down the wedding aura!

Problem 3: Mismatched Buffet

The wedding day feast is perhaps second best thing in a reception, after the bride and groom (and in some cases, it is often the most sought after!). But imagine your guests’ consternation when they find a feast is only in name.

Miscommunication with your vendor can result in a few of the dishes going AWOL. Besides, getting half a dozen non-vegetarian dishes for your guests who are mostly vegetarians can wreak havoc at the dining table.

Problem 4: Unexpected Weather

You have a grand wedding and a fantastic venue set up outside, amidst the flora and fauna on a green dale. The open skies with chirping of the birds are a great ambience for an open ceremony; until the clouds gather without notice and pour down a gazillion litres on to the wedding party.

You may have umbrellas, but what about the other arrangements? The guests would be safe from the rain above, but what about all the slushy mud below? Not to mention the puddles on the walkway and drippings on the centrepieces.

When you have an outdoor wedding reception planned, it is important to have a Plan B in store. On account of rain, you can immediately break out the contingency plan, like having the tents brought up or a roof unfurled at the last minute.

Problem 5: Unexpected Guests

The guest list is all ready and you know by heart the number of guests attending the reception. The food, tables and chairs ordered are specific to the last number.

But what happens when a dozen people walk in unannounced?

Plan accordingly and always get backup tables, chairs and food. You can assign a co-ordinator for your wedding day;  Let them worry about the guests while you can stand smiling on the stage, holding hands with your beloved.
